Young Carers is a children’s project part of the Beams programme where volunteers play and support children to engage with activities.
Young Carers is a charity that helps and supports children who care for a family member, because of illness, drug misuse or disability. Aylesbury Youth Action is working along Young Carers to provide them with fun and exciting activities for the children aged between 6-11 to partake in. It is important as it gives hard-working children a break and means they can have fun playing games or read books with volunteers. This scheme provides relief for young carers and gives them time to release energy and run around with some of our volunteers, or some children even just want someone to listen to them and someone to talk to. For volunteers, it is a way to help the young people of the community who may be suffering or having to work had to keep their family member happy.
