Project Worker

Area: Aylesbury Vale
Contract: Short Term Contract – 3 to 6 months
Hours: 21 hours per week
Salary Bracket: £9.78 – £10.27 per hour (plus contributory pension)

Aylesbury Youth Action is a local charity that aims to improve life chances for young people aged 14-24 through volunteering opportunities, enabling them to make a positive contribution to their community. 

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work with young people on a variety of projects in the community, over a total of 21 hours each week. As project worker you will be responsible for young people’s development during projects, evaluating the projects you work with, keeping appropriate records, monitoring project expenditure and keeping a good community relationship with project partners. You will also work closely with the Project Leader ensuring that all projects are kept on track. An appropriate youth work qualification or willingness to achieve the relevant training would be desired.

The role would particularly suit a motivated and adaptable individual who enjoys working with young people and has relevant experience of working within a charity or voluntary setting.

Aylesbury Youth Action Chair of Trustee

We are looking for a passionate, dedicated and motivated individual to work with the Trustee Board and staff to add energy, experience and purpose to the team as it moves forward to successfully achieve its aims. The key responsibilities are to provide leadership to the Trustees and AYA Manager, working with them to set the strategic direction and framework of the charity, and to ensure financial stability, utilising their particular skill base and insight. In addition, to acting as an ambassador to the charity and represent the organisation at a variety of events and meetings with key stakeholders. The Chair is expected to have regular meetings with the AYA Manager as well as bi monthly Trustee meetings to discuss relevant strategic development and one or two additional meetings and events per year to concentrate on specific key areas.

Adult Volunteers

To assist in supervising and supporting young people in the delivery of AYA’s Youth-Led Projects, fulfilling the aims and objectives of the charity.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • To assist the Project Worker in the planning and delivery of the designated project(s).
  • To encourage young people to become involved in the development, planning and evaluation the project.
  • To assist with the training of young people as volunteers.
  • To support volunteers in their volunteering and their personal development.
  • To participate in the monitoring and evaluation of the project, including writing reports and keeping records of attendance and activities.
  • To help ensure the safety and security of volunteers, the office and equipment and any other building used in the course of the project.
  • To undertake any other duties as required by the Project Worker or AYA Manager appropriate to the post and your skills and abilities.
